During the second weekend of November 2017 the four of us along with some other creative friends, took over a holiday cottage and held a 'Christmas House'. With mulled wine bubbling on the stove, vintage Christmas tunes gently singing in the background and the table laden with mince pies and chocolate cakes, we created a very civilised shopping experience. Almost 150 people called in to have a look, and a shop. There was something for everyone, tiny scented soaps for stocking fillers, luxury chocolates, beautiful floral table decorations and wreaths for the door, Christmas cordials, tinkling glass tree decorations, uniquely painted shades for lamps, quirky tea cosies, handmade silver pendants and brooches, little glass lamps and candle holders. Although most of our visitors were women, the occasional husband had been brought along by a wife, one gentleman was overheard saying that this was a man’s Christmas Shopping heaven, as they weren’t going to need to go anywhere else! A mental note was made to check our marketing demographics for next year… It was during this event that Homestyle Argyll was formed.
